Shop Hop!

On Thursday and yesterday a friend a I "shop hopped".

The Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop is a huge event held every year.
Shop Hop 2010
A theme fabric is designed especially for the Shop Hop (usually by In the Beginning Fabrics).
I'm normally not crazy about the fabric, but this year I'm in love!
It was designed by Julie Paschkis who does a lot of children's book illustrating as well.
(Her regular line for ITB is called Folklorica and I'm hoping to get my hands on some of that soon.)
Shop Hop Fabrics 2010
Participating quilt stores have to design a block using the theme fabric and coordinating fabrics. About 50 quilt stores normally participate.
They have to make kits for their blocks with fabric and instructions.
And then we hop!
At each store you collect a free kit and have your "passport" stamped. If you have more than 16 stamps you're entered into a drawing for great prizes.

We visited 22 stores, 18 of them on Thursday!
Phew!

  4. I can not believe this, having so many quilt shops and being able to shop hop like that. This is really awesome! Are the blocks in the quilt the ones you were able to collect the kits for?

  5. Wow, that sounds like lots of fun! There's nothing like that where I am, mainly because there are very few fabric shops, so to visit 16, I'd probably have to spend a week touring the whole country!

  6. Quilt shop hops are like inviting an alcoholic on a pub crawl. I just can't start.

  10. Holy cow! 18 in one day? You're hard core! I feel lucky to have managed 4 (though I did have toddler and baby and husband in tow). :P I love the shop hop fabric this year too and bought a couple yards of the "border print"-- it is just too beautiful!

  14. I did the WW Quilt Shop Hop too, and had a great time! We did 17 shops in two days - enough to qualify for the prizes, and make a wallhanging with the blocks. I'm getting started today! This year's fabrics are wonderful - and coordinate with Julie Paschkis' new line, Oceanica. Her animals and colour-sense are beautiful!
